American Journalist, Spiritual Director and Author
Ellen Gunter is the co-author of Reunion: How we heal our broken connection to the earth. An advocate of ecological concerns since reading Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring as a teen, her deep concern about the health of the earth has remained a constant in her political and social life. In 2007 she and co-author Ted Carter began a three-year journey to uncover the emotional, physical and spiritual connections that are also deeply tied into what’s commonly called the environmental crisis. Reunion explores the interconnectedness of the environment with our mental, physical and spiritual health and details how each of us can begin to rediscover our connection to our planet through meaningful exercises and a willingness to look more deeply at what surrounds and calls to us. Ellen lectures about the connections between spirituality and the environment in the Chicago area. You can follow her Earth Calling blog at www.ellengunter.com. She lives in Oak Park, Illinois.
Book
Ellen is the co-author of Reunion: How we heal our broken connection to the earth. Reunion is dedicated to the Earth—and to teaching ourselves how to see it differently so we can awaken to the environmental challenges we live with. Reconnecting to the earth can help us change more than our consumer habits—it can change our very consciousness.
Future generations are counting on us to make this journey into our interior landscapes—and the clock is ticking. Each of us has a sacred connection to the earth. Come rediscover yours.
“Reunion is a book that should be required reading for every single person. Something radical has changed in us and it’s not good. We have strayed from our fundamental nature and we must find our way back to our primary rapport with the earth and our own life instincts before we lose sight of those precious instincts entirely.” -Caroline Myss
