Interviewing Geert Kimpen, Bodegarden, 4th June 2012

“A theater man who hopefully more surprises in store for us.”, Headlined the NRC in 1994 following the self-written graduation performance ‘Pirouette’ to the Director Training of Amsterdam. Surprised he did with numerous performances throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria traveled. His piece “The Rats Catch Star” in 2007 even played in Papiamento in Aruba. As a theater Geert Kimpen won with his debut piece ‘Menelaus’ Prince Bernhard of the prestigious award. Mostly he wrote the texts themselves and … certainly not without success. Wrote Parool is not about “slick”, a performance based on personal letters “The recovered letters of Geert Kimpen are a good basis for an epistolary novel. The quality of the letters justifies the expense. Which publisher dares?”

Thirty drama came from his pen now created by various Dutch companies.
Other pieces were his adaptation of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (in more than 300 major Dutch theaters was to be seen!), And “The Secret Garden” that the Limburg newspaper wrote: “So beautiful, so touching, so poetic, so musical, so enchanting, and I could go on and that I am actually ashamed, do these simple words. ” About his adaptation of Dumas’ masterpiece, the NRC wrote: “The Three Musketeers, the heroism and tells rein in beautiful, old-fashioned language, a story of fame and love.”

His piece “Siren, the little mermaid” in the Netherlands has played hundreds of times, in 2005 the repertoire by renowned Atze Theater in Berlin. With this performance, they were nominated for the German youth theater Ikarus price and the performance is now four years can be seen in the German theaters.

Besides writing plays Geert Kimpen stories for several magazines. He is the most widely read columnist for the Dutch magazine spiritual, Tightrope Walker. He also published journals in major Dutch magazines like Nieuwe Revu and Fem / DeWeek. For Happinez he went 10 days through the jungle with a shaman which he wrote a travelogue. Later he was commissioned by Happinez the book “Step by step from wish to reality in few months time, was sold 40,000 times. From this book came from a book edition, and it was translated into Portuguese. For Happinez in 2010 he wrote a travelogue about Tsfat in Israel, in 2011 and made a “treasure box” with 7 inspirational insights. For NCRV magazine “Four”, he writes short stories since 2011.

In 2000 he wrote with his wife, author Christine Pannebakker, “The Love Diary” (published by Cosmos S & K) on moving and hilarious account of many of their love life.

In June 2004, put an old Russian Kabbalah master Geert Kimpen on the trail of Chaim Vital. “You should write this story,” he said. Geert Kimpen was captivated by the enigmatic life of this 16th-century Kabbalist from whom the books are only now finding their way to a growing audience.

From one day to another, he moved his hectic life as a theater for the rest of the writing. He promised all his theater commands from approaching full-time to devote to his ultimate quest to find God. With his wife and eighteen year old daughter, he traveled through Europe, Israel, Egypt, Turkey and America and eventually found God at the breakfast table.

This resulted in the inspiring life story based on a true story of Chaim Vital: The Kabbalist. Of this book have already been 22 printings and was sold to 15 countries. The ECI was chosen in the prestigious series’ Writers’ Now ‘. The Fund of Arts The Kabbalist selected as 1 of the 10 additional titles that were promoted at the Frankfurt Book Fair. About the book he gave over 100 lectures to packed houses and enthusiastic audience. For the book ‘A dream can change your life’ by American author Gahl Sasson and Steve Weinstein, he wrote a significant contribution. In 2007 this book was published by Ten Have in Dutch.

In September 2008 he published his second novel in The Labor Press: The Secret Newton. With The Secret Newton won the Para Vision Award 2009 for “Most inspiring book.” He made a new reading to the backgrounds of the alchemical way from Newton to explain in detail “Make gold of your life,” which he re-crossed the country. Also this was reading a book, both in a Happinez version, like a book edition.

In 2010 ECI book club invited a special book for them in their series “Writers Name”. It was a reissue of “The Love Diary ‘, in collaboration with his wife Christine Pannebakker.

His long-awaited new novel, Rachel, or the mystery of love “appears in 2011. Another reason for a new reading “The Mystery of Love” The Netherlands and Belgium to traverse.
